fall season

The Colorado High School mountain bike race season is a fall sport. The season starts in August and finishes at the end of October with a team celebration in November. All riders must complete a Skills Camp before they can participate in the fall race season.

There are 4 conference races with a state championship for qualified racers. Races are held out of town and families are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. While racing is not mandatory, it is encouraged. All Crankers practice and race together, regardless of the school's name on their jersey. The heart of the High School team is skill development embedded in a culture of fun and team camaraderie. Talk to anyone on the team, and they will tell you: the season is so much more than a handful of races!

All racers will need to register with the Colorado League and are responsible for all race fees.

More information can be found on the high school league website: www.Coloradomtb.org

weekly Practices

There are three or more practices per week. Practices are held at PS Miller Park, Rhyolite Park and local trails around Castle Rock. We break up into groups based on skill level and always have a great time. Student athletes are accompanied by volunteer ride leaders and coaches.

Practice generally falls between 5 to 8pm on weeknights, lasting approximately two hours.

schedule & LOCATIONS

Although all Crankers practice together, on race day each student races for their school in a school jersey. Team points are scored for each school, and each school team must include at least one female racer to score in the team points competitions.

Race locations are all over Colorado every other weekend in the fall totaling 4 races, with an additional State Championship weekend for qualified racers at the end of the season. Most race weekends require an overnight stay the night before the race. Riders will pre-ride the course the afternoon before their race and be back at the venue early the next morning. Race days are generally from 7:30am until 4:30pm, and all athletes are expected to stay for the entire race day to cheer and support their teammates. Race fees are set by the Colorado High School Cycling League, with a discount to pre-purchase the four-race series.
